New Mite Level Added

Princeton Youth Hockey Association is pleased to announce a change to our youth hockey program!  Starting with the 2013 – 2014 season we will be offering 3 separate programs for kids ages 4-8.

Level 1 is called mini-mites; this level is ideal for first year skaters or those 2nd year skaters that are still not very confident on the ice.  This is a free program; there will be a combination of games and practices each weekend of either Saturday or Sunday for 45 minutes.  The total estimated time on the ice is 14 hours for the season.  Players at this level will not be playing any teams from other towns.

Level 2 is called Jr. Mites; this level is new to PYHA this year.  This is ideal for those skaters that have done the mini-mites and/or are more comfortable on skates.  This level will give the kids more a “real” game type atmosphere as we will be playing against other towns within our district.  Skaters at this level will be split into teams evenly based on the total number of skaters NOT based on skill level.  The cost for this level is $250; there are fundraising opportunities available to help cover this fee.  There will be a combination of games and practices each week on both Saturday and Sunday, each on ice session (either game or practice) will be one hour.  The total estimated time on the ice will be 28 hours for the season.  There will be a minimum of 5 “real” games with other towns for these teams.

Level 3 is our mite level.  Skaters at this level will participate in assessments and will be placed on teams based on their skill level.  They are typically three levels within Mites; A, B and C however based on the number of Skaters and the skill level PYHA may not have teams at each level.  The cost for this level is $500; there are fundraising opportunities available to help cover this fee.  Skaters at this level will be on the ice anywhere from 2 to 4 per week for an hour each time.  This will be combination of games and practices.  All practices will be held in Princeton, however games will take place both in Princeton and at various other arenas within District 10 ( you can learn about District 10 Hockey at www.district10hockey.org).    Teams at this level will have at least 10 games and will be able to participate in two jamborees one of which will be hosted in Princeton.
